The crisis in the real state industry returns to cool the hopes of a better economy in the United States. The forecasts predicted a sale of 355.000 households, data from the Commerce Department reduced this amount to 309.000.
This is the lowest record registered in a historical series that began in 1963. The figure means a fall by 11.2%, and remains under the worst expectations of all the analyst’s forecasts consulted by Bloomberg (325.000).
The reduction of price, did not prevent this new fall. According the data from the Commerce Department, the average sale price of these households, reflects a fall by 2,4% in January, to $203,500, the lowest since December 2003.
