The Obama Administration will approve a new plan of aid to those who have a mortgage and are unemployed. Valued in $7.5Bn, will be ale to reduce or modify the mortgages from those with most problems. The objective is brake the number of foreclosures caused by the economic crisis since, the biggest recession since the 30′s.

This is an ambitious plan that will give flexibility mortgages to help mortgagors who are unemployed and those which have a house whose value in the market is lower than what they owe.

The economic recession attacked the real residential state industry, and several zones suffered high loses in house prices that were doped during the real state bubble. The program could help those in this case by refinancing its debt with mortgages apported by the government.

This program will be financed with returned or unused TARP funds, the $700bn used to help the banks. Furthermore, although being aimed to help mortgagors who have defaulted or in risk of foreclosure, those citizens who have still covered its payments can participate.

The details seem to show that this new plan will regard the possibility to reduce or suspend the payments during a period between 3 and 6 months in those mortgagors who do not find a job.

At the same time, one of the strong points will be the possibility of reduce the value of debt n those families who have difficulties to accomplish payments. The effect of this measure will be translated in a lower monthly payment.

The objective is to avoid the wave of foreclosures registered by the first economy in the world, that although being already the biggest since the great depression in the 30′s , is expected to grow in 2010 from 2,8 millions to 4,5 millions. According forecasts from RealtyTrac.

In last months of the past year, fiscal profits boosted real state market, but since they expired in November 30th, sales of new and used households recorded falls.
